The Raymond Scott Experience

Venue: The Sage, Hall 2
Dates: Sunday 28th March
Time: 2pm

Featuring the Stu Brown Sextet and Stan Warnow

The eyeball-popping, rocket-fuelled, intergalactic jazz-swing of the late, great Raymond Scott is instantly familiar to anyone who has ever watched early Looney Tunes cartoons or more recently Ren and Stimpy and The Simpsons. Both a composer and inventor, Scott’s remarkable music was the perfect accompaniment to legions of mischief-making rabbits, ducks and roadrunners.

This event includes a live performance by the Stu Brown sextet of Scott’s music and also features footage of the new documentary DECONSTRUCTNG DAD by Scott’s son, filmmaker Stan Warnow, which will be premiered in full at Sheffield’s Sensoria Festival in late April (www.sensoria.org.uk). Stan will take part in a panel discussion chaired by Alyn Shipton. With thanks to the Sage Gateshead.
