Memory - a personal journey
Posted on Mon, 23 Nov 2009
Northern Lights Film Festival and Tyneside Cinema have commissioned Martin Hampton to produce a personal account of his sister's journey as she deals with memory loss in her 60s. Martins past work can be found here. The work allows us to consider a range of questions including how we see the world differently (or exist in different worlds simultaneously) and how we might cross into each others worlds without breaking boundaries. This weeks blog suggests it might be time to rethink our fear of breaking boundaries and taboos in order to support loved ones to live well in the here and now.
Martin is a film maker worth watching because of his creativity, engagement with stories that matter, and as a generous film maker keen to make an impact beyond his films. Martin has started blogging his very personal journey, spending time with his sister and exploring the issues around memory loss with academics, scientists, carers and public bodies.
We are keen that people who have personal experience of dealing with memory loss can make comments and suggestions alongside other filmmakers and creatives.
If you are interested in participating or even just following Martins very personal journey then please join us.
The opportunity is strengthened by Patrick Collerton of YIPP films who is providing mentoring support and made possible by funding from MMM who are exploring the ways our organisations can work together to strengthen what we can offer film makers and audiences.
