Deola - drafts, amazon videos and hot chocolate
Posted on Thu, 22 Oct 2009
Hi all,
It’s been a few months since I have blogged. I have been getting my head down writing and rewriting treatments and loads of notes on the characters in the CONCRETE CAT. Have also had umpteen coffees, or rather hot chocolates [I can’t stand coffee, how does anyone drink the dam stuff?] with Kate Leys in London cafes. Between Kate getting swine flu, my day job, and going on holiday and falling off a horse, I have had an exhausting few months! Kate has asked me to concentrate on the notes rather than writing the first draft of the CONCRETE CAT. She feels research and knowing the characters’ background is imperative before starting the first draft. I have had great fun discovering the worlds of the characters – especially from Amazon.com videos! God! The world of dog fighting is hideous! Kate’s feedback has been brilliant although sometimes I have found the process torturously slow as I have never written so many drafts on characters’ back-stories before. I hope that all this fuel is going to make my screenplay fantastic. I feel like a GRAND PRIX racer, ramped up and really ready to go. I would be very interested to find out what other writers feel is the perfect starting point for a screenplay.
Much love to all.
