Sigur Rós — Heima PG At Home Regional Premiere
Saturday 8 December, 21.00
Dir. Dean DeBlois. Iceland 2007. 97 mins. In Icelandic with English subtitles. Documentary.
After the release of their amazing 2005 album Takk…, Icelandic band Sigur Rós toured the world. Returning home to Iceland, the band decided to give something back to their people and played a series of intimate free gigs across their homeland during 2006.
Interspersed with interview footage, Heima shows the band playing unusual venues, including ghost towns, outsider art shrines and small community halls, ending with a show in the heart of Reyjavik.
The end result is one of the most emotional, charming and musically brilliant films you’ll ever see, with director Dean DeBlois capturing on camera the same beauty of their homeland as the band evoke in their music.
“As much a tribute to the stunning landscapes of Iceland as it is a concert tour” {Variety}
