Ilona (Kati Outinen) is headwaiter in a restaurant in Helsinki. Through hard work and fortitude, she’s managed to raise herself from dishwasher and is imperious in her role, commanding her staff with a rod of iron. But when a recession hits and both she and her husband lose their jobs, the couple must face up to hard times and try to find themselves new work, and get their lives back on track.
