The Event
Held in the film capital of the North East - Newcastle Upon Tyne - over the weekend of Friday 17th and Saturday 18th November, Northern Lights Film Festival is running an exciting programme of discussions, case studies and lectures in its two-day Industry Summit.
This Summit, attended by the cream of UK and international film talent, is an amazing opportunity to mingle with the producers, agents, distributors, screen agencies and film makers who can help your progression up the film ladder, no matter which rung you presently occupy.
The Detail
This year’s event will be an opportunity for you to meet leading industry professionals from across Northern Europe and the UK. There will be live feature film pitching sessions, sessions on how to pitch your project, make successful co-production partnerhships, pick up distribution, and even a chance for you to “speedmeet” with the guests. This year’s industry experts include representatives from:

We will also be announcing the winner of the Orange North Star Short Film Award 2006 and exclusively screening the film made by the winner of last year’s award Black Dog by Ian Fenton.
The Damage
There are only a very limited number of delegate places available and they are restricted to industry professionals.
A delegate pass costs £50 full price, (£40 concessions) and will give you access to all panel discussions throughout the summit, a networking party on Friday night, lunch on Saturday, free entry to the summit party on Saturday night and half price entry to all film screenings at Northern Lights.

The Art of Co-Productions: Pitching your film to an international market

Film might be a common language but international co-producing can be worlds apart. This panel event attended by a variety of high profile international film professionals discusses some of the key issues and how to pick the right international co-producer to be involved in your project.
The Pick-up: How to get your film on screen
Saturday 18th November, 14:00 – 15:30
With so many films vying for distributor’s attention what will make yours stand out? A panel of distributors talk about screen successes: how to win audiences, how to market ‘difficult’ films and how to capitalise on having a cult hit on your hands.
The Big Pitch
Saturday 18th November, 16:45 – 18:15
Prior to the summit, a nationwide call for submissions for feature film pitch ideas was circulated. The shortlisted candidates are brought to Newcastle to meet with mentors before pitching to an audience and panel of film professionals. The winner will receive £1,000 and the Northern Lights Film Festival Pitch Award.
