Addictive TV presents: Jack’s Back (Get Carter Redux) 18 Opening Gala 1

Northern Lights 2006 starts up in style with a VIP reception to open the Old Town Hall, Gateshead as the region’s newest cultural venue.

To launch both the festival and this venerable building in style, world famous audiovisual artists and VJs Addictive TV present a unique tribute to Mike Hodges’ seminal gangster movie in the beautifully restored main hall at the Old Town Hall, in the shadow (a mere Alf Roberts throw away, in fact) of the film’s most iconic location, the Gateshead multi-storey car park.

Jack’s Back will be the opening of a live audiovisual performance that will include the best of Addictive TV’s work, including The Italian Boj (an hilarious remix of The Italian Job) and their dazzling James Bond Remix.

“After remixing films for Hollywood it was great to get to grips with a classic Brit film like Get Carter, with its dark and detailed plot and brooding performances. We applied audiovisual sampling techniques to create an AV roller-coaster mash-up with a whole new cinematic syntax. And what better place to perform it than Newcastle?” – Addictive TV

Jack’s Trip

Cliff Sainsbury, Graduate of Northumbria University, Newcastle and winner of the Mike Figgis Prize for Innovation for his final year film Whitehouse Road has produced a fab animation inspired by Mike Hodges film Get Carter. Jack’s Trip is being screened at the Little Jewel Cinema, Waygood Gallery, Highbrdge, Newcastle upon Tyne, from 7th December to the 13th December 2006.
