Born in Odense, Denmark, 200 years ago, Hans Christian Andersen is one of the world’s most famous storytellers. Coming from a very poor background, he defeated the odds and rose up the echelons of Danish high society, mixing with the likes of Charles Dickens and writing stories that have inspired generations of filmmakers across the globe.
