NLFF provides a whole host of educational opportunities, investing in the development of young regional talent. For the second year running we are delighted to deliver a programme of innovative work that will nurture the filmmakers of the future!
EVENTS FOR SCHOOLS

Animation on Tour to Schools
A touring animation package for Primary and lower Secondary Schools across the north east. Talented animator Ellie Land will introduce a screening of Lotte Reininger's stunning silhouette animation classic The Adventures of Prince Achmed, followed by a taster animation demonstration. This programme is available to book and costs £75.00 per screening.

Time For Bed with St Benet Biscop School, Bedlington
Northern Lights in partnership with Wansbeck District Council present the Digital Film Challenge 2004. St Benet Biscop School in Northumberland have been set the challenge to shoot their own short film based on the theme of ‘Time for Bed’ in just four days! Their work will be screened during NLFF prior to the FREE screenings for schools.

Masterclasses for Colleges
Straight from the horses’ mouth! A team of industry professionals are visiting colleges in the region to pass on their editing and screenwriting skills to the filmmakers of the future.

The A-Z of Independent Film Exhibition and Distribution

Always wanted to know why we programme what we do? Your chance to question Tyneside Cinema Director Mark Dobson, City Screen Programmer Damian Spandley and Film Distributor Edward Fletcher.

 

EVENTS FOR TEACHERS

Media Teacher Insets: Film Editing
Not to be neglected, teachers get a chance to extend their knowledge too. A unique learning package for teachers at two sites across the North East, the sessions include editing training for sound and image for both Mac and PC users, aiming to develop teachers’ creative and technical skills. This workshop is aimed primarily at secondary teachers.

Monday 15 November, 10.00am – 4.00pm,
Longbenton City Learning Centre

Tutor Andrew Nixon will deliver a practical session using Adobe Premiere for PC users.

Monday 22 November, 10.00am – 4.00pm,
Heworth Grange School City Learning Centre

Tutor Ellie Land will deliver a practical session using Final Cut Pro for Mac users.

Course costs £65.00 per person.
