At school the next day nobody notices or hears him – he has become totally invisible.

This magical adventure story based on The Arabian Nights is the first full-length animation in the history of filmmaking. Over three years, pioneer director Lotte Reiniger painstakingly created all the characters and cut out every silhouette herself, colour-tinting the frames by hand. The result is an enchanting, lively and action-packed adventure and a fantastic example of work with deep historical links to the mystery and intrigue of Baltic folklore. A classic.
Dir: Lotte Reiniger, Germany 1926, 65 mins,
Animation, Silent with English Intertitles.

A Scandinavian spin on The Parent Trap, this brilliant film is the story of Julia and Martin who are both 11 years old. Tired of constantly travelling between their separated parents every weekend, the pair meet at the airport for the first time, discover that they look exactly the same, and decide to trade places. But when their parents prefer their changed personalities, Julia and Martin just want to go back to being themselves again.
Dir: Ella Lemhagen, Sweden 2003, 90 mins, Feature Film, Subtitled.
